New edition for the English Wine Week, the event dedicated to the celebration of the English wine-making
From May 28th to June 5th wineries an vineyards all over England opened their gates to let guests in for the English Wine Week, seven days dedicated to the celebration of the home-grown wines. With 500 vineyards, nearly 2,000 hectares of vines, five million bottles of wine and several medals won in international competitions, English wine seems to be finally living its golden age and the English Wine Week it’s all about giving it the visibility it deserves.
Tastings, dinners, pop-up bars, tours and meet-the-winemaker debates: over 50 events that took place also in restaurants, pubs and hotels across the country were listed on the English Wine Producers websites to raise the awareness on English wine thorough activities and moment of leisure. From Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc to Pinot Noir and Triomphe, wine lovers were able to taste and enjoy the greatest products of English vineyards.
The event was quite successful also on social media: monitoring the hashtag #englishwineweek on Twitter between May 27th and June 5th, SocialMeter Analysis picked up more than 6k tweets and almost 3k users, mostly American and English, involved in the conversations. A tweet peak was registered on June 3rd, between 8AM and 9AM. Among the most active users there were the official profile of the event @englishwineweek, followed by @swvineyardsuk, official account of the South West Vineyards Association, the personal account of the PR @kocallaghan and the official account of the English Wine Producers, @englishwine. The top mentioned profiles were again, @englishwineweek and @englishwine, followed by @nyetimber the accounts of the wine producer company Nyetimber and of the Hush Heath Estate in Kent, @hushheath.
