25k bottles opened and almost 4k tweets: these are the numbers of the 36th edition of the London Wine Fair
This year’s edition of the London Wine Fair opened its doors to the public working in the wine sector between May 3rd and May 5th. 700 exhibitors, 13000 wines and over 11000 participants enjoyed one of the world’s leading wine trade events under the majestic glass dome of the Olimpia Grand in London.
Running annually since 1981, the London Wine Fair aims at creating a free entry space of sharing for producers, buyers, exporters and distributors, offering meetings, debates and discussion dedicated exclusively to whom operates in the wine business. But the fair is much more than a pure business platform: during the three-day fair there are masterclasses, first class speakers and a division of the exhibitors into specific sections. It wants to be an event of exchange and innovation, where one can experience and get in touch with the global market.
This will to create and share has also stimulated the conversations on Twitter: SocialMeter Analysis monitored the hashtags #londonwinefair, #lwf2016 and #lwf16 between April 26th and May 6th, picking up almost 4k tweets, with a peak between 2PM and 3PM on May 3rd, and more than 1521 active users. Together with the most common and popular hashtag related to wine ((#wine, #winelovers, #italianwine, #winetasting, #winefair, etc.) in the tweets taken into account the most mentioned wines were #champagne, #prosecco and #chianticlassico.
Among the most active users on the subject, in addition to the event official profile @londonwinefair, SocialMeter Analysis identified @armaniwateruk (the british account for the ArmaniWater brand, introduced to the English market during the London Wine Fair), @winesunearthed (Twitter profile of the homonymous section in the fair) and @theiwsc (official account of the International Wine & Spirit Competition).
